Brave New Image World

ARE YOU BRAVE, CREATIVE, TECHNICALLY ADEPT and have something new and interesting to say?

Are you a photographer or photomedia artist?

Could you use $3,000 USD?

Then check out Fotofestiwal Poland, for these are the qualities they seek in their Grand Prix winner. Entry is open to anyone anywhere of any age using any photomedia technique. This is a competition for projects and not simply one-off images. What they want to identify and present are the interesting personalities and new trends of contemporary photography.

THERE IS A FEE FOR ENTRY of $35.00 USD (or €25.00 EUR). Applications are made electronically or on disk and must be in by 10 December 2012.

A jury of four international and five Polish experts, including the festival Director Krzysztof Candrowicz, will meet in January to select seven finalists for exhibition at the 12th Fotofestiwal in Lodz, Poland. From this shortlist a winner will be selected for the Grand Prix of zł10,000 Polish zloty (which is around $3,000 USD or €2,200 EUR).

The festival will run 6–16 June, 2013. The organisers will arrange and pay for manufacture of exhibition prints and cover three night’s accommodation for the winner and each shortlisted artist while they attend the festival.

The international jurists this year are: Peggy Sue Amison, director of Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh, County Cork, Ireland: Alison Nordstrom, Curator of Photographs at George Eastman House, Rochester, USA; Irina Tchmyreva, Artistic Director of the PhotoVisa festival, Krasnodar, Russia; and Rui Prata, Director of Braga Image Museum and the Encontros da Imagem (festival), Braga, Portugal.

The competition has clear rules and guidelines for submission. You can find out all about it here.

Fotofestiwal 2013 is organized by the Foundation of Visual Education.
