Flash Forward Festival 2012

Magenta Flash Hits Boston!

Flash Forward Festival 2012 is currently running in Boston (to 10 June). The five-day event is a platform and networking opportunity for emerging photographers that grew out of the annual competition of the same name.

Organised by the independent Toronto-based publisher and producer, Magenta Foundation, Flash builds on the format of recent photography festivals focusing it into five days with an emphasis on to showcasing and skilling up contemporary practitioners. Events cover a range of practical issues such as negotiating and pricing your work, developing an app, selling photos online and crowd funding.

Over the past decade, the innovative and influential Magenta Foundation has come to set the North American standard for community-collaborative projects that combine imaginatively with an international perspective to help photo-artists from the Anglophone Atlantic (Canada, UK and USA) engage a global audience.

Headed by the founder of the Magenta Foundation, the savvy and irrepressible MaryAnn Camilleri, Flash Forward Festival is based at the Fairmont Battery Wharf, a boutique hotel located on Boston Harbor, Massachusetts. However, this year Magenta has brought in the FlakPhoto web maven extraordinaire, Andy Adams, who is live streaming the festival (during waking hours) here. So now everyone can be involved.

You can also follow the festival blog here.

And if Flash gives you a taste for things Magenta, then check out their magazine and online TV.
